If you have soldered SMD components before this shouldn't be too difficult a task. We've soldered our receivers with the aid of a stereo microscope which is really a great help.
The receiver uses integrated circuits designed specifically for detecting ADS-B and outputs the analog pulses of the signal which should then be low-pass filtered and A/D converted for decoding.
