shack

What shack does:

shack offers and operates an open workshop for charitable computer culture with programming and tolerance in results in the middle of Stuttgart. In other words: a Hackerspace. There are hundreds of those digital maker centres worldwide, now it's Stuttgarts turn. 23 (!) people founded the club on 20. February 2010, and the chosen name is the ultimative short form for ‘Stuttgart’ and ‘Hacking’, just: shack. There is plenty of office space ever since shack e.V moved to Ulmer Strasse 255 in Stuttgart-Wangen in April 2011: more than 350sqm, including a kitchen, seminar rooms, media lab, lounge, electronics lab, a small workshop and a computing & data center – simply a place to realize projects und to fearlessly live digital culture. The wiki states the current projects and the notepad shows more then 140 members.

AerospaceResearch.net

Constellation is a platform for different aerospace related projects that need intensive computational power. The platform supports the efforts of participating projects by providing Distributed Computing capability using BOINC. Constellation will send work-units of attached projects to volunteering, idle PCs where the units are processed. The combined power of all volunteering users will help to solve important scientific tasks in fields from astronomy to aerospace engineering beginning from student up to university projects. The bottom line is to benefit from the generosity of the volunteers and to benefit from the accumulation of different projects, like sharing programming knowledge in distributed computing and influencing the others' simulation by its own solutions. The platform is an open space for anyone, who is an air and space enthusiast and wants to donate idle computing time or even skill for a sub-project on platform. Applications for sub-project are welcome!
