Mango Chutney

Mango chutney can be used very flexible. Use it as a dip, spread, marinade, or just eat it by the spoon :D Below recipe will be enough to fill a medium sized pot.


  • Three (3) ripe mangoes
  • Two (2) lemons (juice)
  • One (1) Habanero chili
  • Three (3) to four (4) large onions
  • 100g grown sugar
  • Plenty of garlic
  • Ginger
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Peanut oil


  • Medium sized pot
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife

Time Requirements

Most of the time goes into preparations. Once everything is in the pot you can let it cook at low temperature for a while, checking in every couple of minutes.


  • Cut onion, habanero, garlic, ginger into small pieces
  • Cut mango into small chunks
  • Heat the pot and add peanut oil
  • Add habanero, garlic, ginger and stir
  • Add onions and cook till they just about start turning translucent
  • Add sugar
  • Add a little salt and some pepper
  • Add mangoes
  • Keep cooking at low temperature until you like the consistency
