Taste Spectrum Pattern

You can taste different things. Sweetness, sourness, bitterness, saltiness, and umami. Often times if you think what you're cooking tastes a little bland, you've probably only covering one or two of these.

Often times adding a minute amount of sugar and some acid (vinegar, lemon) and maybe a little salt will get you a low-key but broadband taste base to work with.
